If you or a loved one experienced respiratory symptoms, mold-related illness, or property damage after using a Perfect Aire window air conditioner, you may have a legal claim. In June 2025, Midea issued a massive recall of U and U+ window AC units—including those branded as Perfect Aire—because of a defect that can lead to dangerous mold growth inside the unit. The mold may then be blown into your home, posing a risk to your health.

The recall includes Perfect Aire models sold at major U.S. retailers and online platforms between March 2020 and May 2025.

When mold is circulated into the air, it can be inhaled, absorbed through the skin, or settle on surfaces throughout your home. Mold exposure symptoms can include:
People with asthma, allergies, compromised immune systems, young children, and the elderly are especially at risk. The CPSC confirmed at least 152 reports of mold and 17 consumer-reported illness cases.
