More and more people are choosing RV’s as their “home away from home” while camping or traveling long distances across the country. RV’s provide families with the convenience of home. Many offer bedrooms, a full kitchen, a living room with a full couch and television, and much more.

Keystone RV Company specializes in portable trailer type RV’s, which are large containers with spacious living areas that are towed by another vehicle. While Keystone advertises luxurious trailers, owners of these trailers tell a different story. According to consumers, Keystone RV’s have a number of mechanical, functional, and aesthetic issues that the company often ignores or simply passes off to the third party dealers.

While some issues are minor and can be remedied with the cooperation of Keystone, other issues create serious hazards and can even result in a crash.

Keystone Brake Failure Can Lead to Accident

In November 2018, Keystone issued a recall to owners, which was concerned with the ability of certain Keystone recreational trailers to brake.

The recall stated that in certain trailers, the electric brake wiring may come in contact with the tires or wheels while the vehicle is in motion. When the wires rub against the tires and damage them, there is an increased risk of poor handling and brake ability of the trailer, which could result in a serious car crash. This is called a manufacturing defect, which occurs during the negligent or careless assembly of a vehicle, or possibly a design defect, in which the defective design caused or contributed to the issue. In this case, the trailer was assembled in a way that allowed the brake wires to touch and subsequently wear and damage the tires.

The Keystone RV trailers that have been subject to this recall are:

Is Keystone Liable for My Injuries?

Customer reviews have pointed out that it has been nothing short of challenging to get Keystone to step up and take responsibility for their faulty and poorly made products. This is why it is so important to have a lawyer representing you who can fight for your rights as a consumer.

We can hold Keystone liable for a defect that caused you harm if we can show that:

  • You suffered an actual injury.

  • The defective brake wires were the proximate cause of your injury.

  • The trailer was being used as it was intended to be used.

  • Keystone knew or should have known that the brakes were negligently manufactured, and that Keystone failed to repair, replace, or adequately warn you and other consumers about the defective brakes.

Losing the ability to brake and ultimately control of your RV can have devastating consequences. If you were hurt in a crash caused by your RV’s inability to brake, you may be entitled to recover damages against the manufacturer. At the Law Offices of Jason Turchin, our team of vehicle product defect lawyers have represented many clients who have been hurt as a result of defective auto parts, and we would like to help you get the financial compensation you deserve.
