What is Tasigna prescribed for?
Tasigna (nilotinib) was approved by the FDA in 2007, and is part of a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. These inhibitors are generally prescribed for treatment of myeloid leukemia.

Does Tasigna cause strokes?
Numerous lawsuits have been filed against Novartis alleging that the medication caused the patient to have a stroke. The Tasigna lawsuits allege that Novartis failed to warn patients of the risk of strokes, which could lead to serious medical complications, significant medical expenses and even death.

How to file a Tasigna stroke lawsuit?
If you or a family member had a stroke or heart attack while taking Tasigna, you may be able to file a lawsuit. There are numerous lawsuits filed in State Court in New Jersey, and recently a Multi-District Federal Lawsuit was approved in the Middle District of Florida. A recent report noted that more than 180 lawsuits have already been consolidated in a New Jersey state court for pretrial proceedings.

On August 10, 2021, the UNITED STATES JUDICIAL PANEL on MULTIDISTRICT LITIGATION formed "IN RE: TASIGNA (NILOTINIB) PRODUCTS LIABILITY LITIGATION" where all federally filed lawsuits will be transferred to further litigate and investigate the claims of the victims. The Court said that all actions can be expected to share factual questions arising from allegations that Novartis failed to appropriately warn of the risks that use of Tasigna may cause severe atherosclerotic injuries.

Multi-district litigation can be very beneficial to victims. Think power in numbers. The federal panel also noted that centralization offers substantial opportunity to streamline pretrial proceedings; reduce duplicative discovery and conflicting pretrial obligations; prevent inconsistent rulings on common Daubert challenges and summary judgment motions; and conserve the resources of the parties, their counsel and the judiciary.

Tasigna Class Action Lawsuit in Florida
Some product defect cases end up in a class action. More often, though, a product defect lawsuit like Tasigna would be filed as an individual case and then consolidated into a multi-district case where a team of Plaintiff lawyers work together to fight the drug maker.

Our attorneys have the resources and experience necessary to determine whether your particular injury claim may be involved in any ongoing or potential class action or MDL litigation. If you or a loved one had a heart attack or stroke while taking Tasigna, call us today for a free consultation.
