If you or someone in your household has suffered from respiratory symptoms or mold-related property damage after using an LBG Products-branded window air conditioner, you may be eligible to file a product liability claim. In June 2025, Midea recalled over 1.7 million U and U+ window air conditioners due to a design defect that allows water to pool inside the unit, creating an environment where mold can grow and circulate into your home.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a widespread recall involving Midea-manufactured air conditioners sold under multiple brand names, including LBG Products. The problem lies in the unit’s drainage design. When water fails to drain properly, it can accumulate, leading to internal mold formation. As the AC blows air, it can spread mold spores into your home, possibly affecting your health.
These units were sold between March 2020 and May 2025 through national retailers and websites such as Home Depot, Walmart, Amazon, and others.
The recall includes the following model sold under the LBG Products brand:

Mold spores that are released from a contaminated air conditioner may lead to a wide range of health issues, particularly for individuals with allergies, asthma, or compromised immune systems. Reported symptoms include:
According to the recall, there were 152 reports of mold growth and at least 17 consumers experienced health issues linked to exposure from the recalled units.

Refunds or repairs through Midea may cover the product defect but not the broader impact of mold-related illnesses or home damage. That’s where legal action may come into play.
Although the brand is LBG Products, the recalled units were:
